Weekly Bulletin – September 21 2018

WADARC meets at – Lions Hall, 21 Roberts Road, Lancing. BN15 8AR.

THE PAST WEEK

Last Wednesday’s meeting was the worst attended I’ve ever seen. NINE members plus one non-member and one visitor! I presume that despite previous calls for a club shack, on-the-air nights are not popular at all?
The club’s IC7300 was available, a temporary antenna was rigged up and we actually managed to find Graham (G4FNL) on 80 metres, using the callsign G6XX. Unfortunately, we were unable to get the antenna to tune/match, so the IC7300 cut its power right back and it was just not enough to get Graham to hear us. Thanks to those however, who took the trouble to turn up and make an effort.

One good thing came out of last Wednesday’s meeting – we were put in touch with some surplus equipment, which will add to the goodies at the forthcoming Junk Sale.

JUNK SALE

You will see (below) that our annual Junk Sale will take place next week. Also note that the start time is 7.30pm. If you have items to sell that you need to unload, on arrival at Lions Hall you will be directed to reverse your vehicle up to the front doors and you will be assisted to unload. You will then be asked to drive to the nearest available on-street parking space, or to the nearby public car park. When the sale is finally over, please leave the venue quietly – it’s a residential street.

FINALÉ

The end of the month approaches and that’s the deadline for a decision to be made about the venue for our Christmas meal. Two venues have been proposed: The Old Tollgate, Bramber and the Royal George, Shoreham. Both venues provide a carvery as well as alternatives and both have two tier pricing. The Old Tollgate has had it’s food hygene rating upgraded and the Royal George has recently been refurbished. Both venues have car parks.

I’ve created a Doodle Poll for you to vote on which venue you prefer: https://doodle.com/poll/es4sx8u6ttys64bg
