ANNOUNCEMENT

The Annual General Meeting for 2018 will take place on Wednesday 31st October, 8.00pm sharp at the Lions Hall, 21 Roberts Road, Lancing. BN15 8AR.
Any proposals appropriate to the AGM MUST be with the Hon. Secretary BY Wednesday 10th October 2018.
A full agenda will be available to members on the night.

THE PAST WEEK (or two!)

The past couple of weeks have been varied, with the temperature dropping, although there’s been no need to turn up the heat at Lions Hall yet.
We’ve had a tea and chat night with everything from Amateur Radio to the weather discussed and quite a fair turnout.

On the following Saturday, Philip – G4KIL ran a special event station to mark the opening of a community and youth hall in Hangleton. The club’s IC7300 was used for HF and mostly behaved well, except for use of one antenna for 40 metres where the PTT was pressed and the rig promptly turned itself off. RF in the shack? Who knows! Thanks to Philip and to Roger – G7VBR for providing support.

Last Wednesday was a podcast from the ARRL describing use and types of antennas for field days – American style. It was interesting to note the difference in requirements between the USA and the UK and NO, towers and massive beams are not the order of the day!

SUBSCRIPTIONS

Club subscriptions are now due – £35 for the coming year.

JUNK SALE

You will see (below) that our annual Junk Sale will take place in around 11/2 weeks. Also note that the start time is 7.30pm. If you have items to sell that you need to unload, on arrival at Lions Hall you will be directed to reverse your vehicle up to the front doors and you will be assisted to unload. You will then be asked to drive to the nearest available on-street parking space, or to the nearby public car park. When the sale is finally over, please leave the venue quietly – it’s a residential street.
