WADARC meets at – Lions Hall, 21 Roberts Road, Lancing. BN15 8AR.
THE PAST WEEK
Some enhancements on the 2 metre band with ‘lift’ conditions, but quite localised – mostly to North Western France. French beacons were heard very strongly for a couple of days, but the Belgian beacon was barely detectable.
Last Wednesday’s meeting was an outside event at Chantry Hill car park, Storrington. Attending were Bryan – G0SIU, Terry – G0BRP, Roger – G7VBR, Alex – 2E0UMD, Vic – G8MUQ, Phil – G4UDU and Alan – G4GNX. Two others tried to attend but got lost and didn’t find the site!
Although Bryan had his KX3 and a portable HF vertical, it was a bit too windy for that particular antenna, so he stuck to 2 metre FM and worked several stations in several counties, which just proves that 2 metres is still popular but it would seem not in our immediate area!
Roger and I spent most of the time replacing the motor on my 2M/70cm antenna on the top of my car. Now working well again and able to be raised and lowered for car parks and low barriers.
Next Wednesday’s meeting, Pete – G4LKW will be looking for volunteers for Lighthouses on the Air and explaining any special requirements. Please try to help out as much as you can for and during the event, especially as we are one man down this year (Pete, ‘FVL can’t make it). It’s also a good opportunity to get on the end of 400 watts and work some DX with a decent aerial. If you want to operate, don’t be shy, just ask.
