Amateur radio in West Sussex - Training, Exams, Contests and Special Event Stations

Weekly Bulletin – December 15 2018

THE PAST WEEK

Last Wednesday, 23 of us met at the Old Tollgate, Bramber for a Christmas get together and meal. Apart from the occasional gristle and leathery Yorkshire pudding, the food seemed to be generally good and the variety was very acceptable. Unfortunately we were given to understand that we would be in a large room with another group and a partition between us, so we postponed the usual awards ceremony and the Christmas raffle, due to the difficulties over noise. Had we known that we would have exclusive use of the room, we could have followed the usual trend. We will have an awards presentation and a raffle at a future club meeting at the new Worthing QTH.

Graham, G4FNL has continued to organise the special event station for 19/20 January at Sussex University and Phil, G4UDU has succeeded in acquiring GB5WOR for us to use for the entire month. Graham has also sent out an email suggesting another planning meeting – please look out for that.

On Friday afternoon, three of us met with Paul Minter at the Worthing Sea Cadets HQ and signed the necessary documents for WADARC to meet on Tuesday evenings, starting 15th January, 2019. We also had another look round and had discussions about what we might like to do in the future, especially on refurbishing the Radio Room as a club shack.

Below are a couple of photos of the existing antennas, taken by Roger, G7VBR. Obviously things may not be exactly the way we’d like them, but we will be able to make changes over time.

NEXT WEDNESDAY we will also be discussing what bands/frequencies we want to use and times for club nets, during the Christmas/New Year recess.
