Weekly Bulletin – February 2 2020

THE PAST WEEK

Last Tuesday’s event was something of a voyage of discovery, when we installed Log4OM version 2 on the Club’s laptop. Although I have installed the logging program several times on different PCs at home, there were a few differences in where some necessary data was stored by Log4OM v1 and one API key was not to be found! There were several questions, one being “What are the differences between v1 and v2?” Something I could not fully answer and really needs a full read of the manual, followed by a hands-on session. Log4OM is an excellent logging program and fully integrates with most rigs that allow CAT control and or serial data output input/output.

Next Tuesday, we hope to finally finish off the full installation of the Shack’s Tambour Doors. This will also be a Tea & Chat session and perhaps we can discuss member’s preference for some of the equipment we might install.

Following last week’s report of my purchase of a NanoVNA, we will be viewing a podcast on the device, at Tuesday 11th’s meeting. I hope this will prove interesting to many of our members, especially those who like to know what their antennas and filters are really doing, without having to spend 100s of pounds.

FINALÉ

Now that we’re out of the EU, do we now count as DX from “Yerp”? I’ve seen one report of someone hearing a call for DX not in Europe and the reply from a British station saying that we are now DX as we’re not in Europe?
