Hints and tips for using WFView
The setup for WFView is covered in the manual here https://wfview.org//wfview-user-manual/
After following the setup instructions some users of network connected radios have found that there is no transmit audio. The modulation source must be set to LAN, link here https://wfview.org/wfview-user-manual/settings/#radiosettings. We have found that this setting can revert to MIC for no apparent reason so always check that your audio is going out.
When using WFView over a poor connection, narrow the pan and waterfall down to 50K or even the bandwidth you are using. It is also a good idea to up the latency to 300mS on both receive and transmit.
The software does not play nicely with Windows, probably because it was written for Linux I guess, it is best to follow some rules.
If you are updating the software the previous version must be removed. If the update is partly to cure problems it is best to reset the software to defaults before removing it, this is because the removal process does not clear the registry.
If the Windows installer will not remove the software the maintenance program can be run directly, this is called “maintenancetool.exe” and is located in the WFView directory.
When Icom introduce a new radio it is necessary to put a new file into the rig directory. The info is here. https://wfview.org/wfview-user-manual/rig-files/
There is a user forum here https://forum.wfview.org/
